Tip 1. Avoid Negative Peers
We seem to view the university as a place of freedom, social and probably standardized learning environment. Yes, we can be absolutely free from parental control but to pursue our academic goals and achievement, there’s a need to avoid negative peers.
Some of the ways through which we can avoid negative peer influence includes;
- Act cool and calm, be contented and build your own self-confidence.
- Disperse or move away from the environment where you feel uncomfortable
- Be selective in choosing your friend: try to study and know the kind of person (personality or attitude) you move with.

Tip 2. Draw A Good Plan Of Objectives
An adage which says “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail” is effective enough for a student to find balance and be successful in his/her academic year. You have to set realistic goals to avoid failures.
Also, the campus social activities and academic performance (i.e building G.P.A), should be planned for each session or semester which could help and give room for the student to study without distractions. Going to the university library for reading and research is also an advantage.
Tip 3. Seek Financial Support
Seeking out for financial assistance either from our parents, family members or friends can also make university balance for an individual. The money given to us by our parents before going to the university might definitely not satisfy all our immediate needs, hence there’s need for financial support so as afford the minor items ranging from materials, university library’s cards, faculty levies, e.t.c. and to be actively involved in the academics.
Tip 4. Maintain Good Health
The foundation of success in life is good health which is the substratum fortune and also the basis of happiness. We cannot accumulate a fortune or success story when we are not healthy. Therefore in the university, eat well, use drugs as prescribed by a medical doctor, and exercise your body. Remember! for you to concentrate better while receiving lectures, reading or writing an exam, there is a need for you to eat and maintain good health.

Tip 5. Resist Temptation
As the university is full of all sorts of social activities, you must find a way to avoid them. You can force yourself to stay focus and resist temptations so as to acquire your set objectives. Do understand that weekdays are meant for study (for a full-time program) while weekends, on the other hand, are there for you to relax or probably go through what you’ve been taught in the week.
There are methods through which you can use in finding balance in the university as it is viewed from different perspectives but ideally if you can create and utilize your time doing something creative, do plan ahead, avoid distractions, maintain good health, seek guidance from university counsellors, avoid mingling with students that won’t add to your knowledge, you’ll see success as a simple arithmetic.
